Familiar Faces, Fantastic Food, Superb Service

Since 2004 Lampy’s has been creating an atmosphere of casual fine dining with friendly professional service. It’s a place where ‘everyone knows your name’, goes above and beyond to make you feel like royalty and at the same time makes you feel like you’re right at home.

Jim McCoy opened Lampy’s with the intention of making sure that every guest was taken care of like they were family but with a fine dining twist. A lot of the service steps and training were taken from his other restaurant, Number 5, a fine dining steakhouse in the historic 5th firehouse of Binghamton. Number 5 was established in 1978 and was Jim’s first restaurant but when the opportunity arose to purchase the building where Lampy’s is he knew he had to because it was an important piece of his past and of his restaurant passion. Lampy’s is usually referred to as Number 5’s sister restaurant and in a lot of ways is but the roots of Lampy’s go way further than that. This is why Lampy’s feels more like home: He started as a dishwasher at Orlando’s/Paradise Restaurant that was previously there owned by Lampy George. Jim saw the true ‘ins and outs’ of the kitchen and the restaurant through Lampy during this time which later inspired him to creates dishes at Lampy’s like the Lampy Scampi, Steak Casino, and Veal Giovanni when Lampy’s opened. The menu was originally made and still is to be a little bit of everything: Italian, American, with fresh seafood, steaks, and chops with the addition of some favorites from Number 5 like our famous Baked French Onion Soup, the local favorite: Honey Horseradish Shrimp and the original Greek Tenderloin.

Our bar is the ‘go-to’ spot for the locals. As Jim says, ‘Little Bar, Big Menu’… The bar and lounge is a cozy spot for a small bite or a delicious sandwich or even a fresh flatbread pizza. The drinks are vast and our pour is generous. Matt Russell, our head bartender takes the time every day to come up with great drink features and even has a lot of them on our huge cocktail list. With fantastic food, attentiveness, and a good sense of humor, Lampy’s bar is sure to be your new favorite spot!

You might come in as our guest but by the time you leave you’ll be a friend… A very well fed friend!
